Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine
The Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine (MSGM) was formed on 13 July 2012. We are a professional organisation dedicated to advancing the field of geriatric medicine in Malaysia. Established to address the growing needs of an aging population, MSGM focuses on promoting high standards of clinical care, research, and education in geriatrics. The society serves as a platform for healthcare professionals specialising in the care of older adults, providing opportunities for continuous professional development, collaboration, and advocacy.
MSGM organises conferences, workshops, and seminars to disseminate knowledge and best practices in geriatric medicine. We also engage in policy advocacy to influence healthcare policies that benefit the elderly, ensuring that their unique medical and social needs are met. The society collaborates with various stakeholders, including governmental and non-governmental organisations, to enhance the quality of life for older Malaysians.
By fostering a multidisciplinary approach, MSGM aims to integrate geriatric medicine into the broader healthcare system, encouraging the involvement of physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and caregivers in delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to the elderly. The society's commitment to excellence in geriatric medicine is pivotal in addressing the challenges and opportunities posed by an aging society in Malaysia.
